Sparrow Tin Toy

A clockwork mechanism is built into this tinplate sparrow toy. The tail is attached to the body only loosely. When the bird is wound up, it stands up and vibrates, causing the tail to move as well. The wind-up mechanism is simple and similar to those used in Europe prior to WWII (1939–45), particularly in Germany. This toy was created in China for the domestic market, not for export. The overall condition of the tin toy is very good with no to minimal scratches.
