Lord Krishna is said to have been particularly mischievous as a child, stealing curd and butter and pulling practical jokes on his gopi. This beautiful small sculpture of Bala Krishna demonstrates the recognition of portraying Krishna in his infant state. The only jewellery on the body is a girdle with pendants, anklets, armlets, bracelets, and necklaces. The hair is held in place and brushed back from the brow, and the ears are pendant-style. The feet’s soles have been patterned. Originated in Karnataka.
