The goddess Annapurna is revered as the goddess of food in Hinduism. The Sanskrit words “Anna” and “Purna” denote “food” and “plenty or filled,” respectively. All individuals who approach the goddess Annapurna are given a promise that only a mother can fulfill: she will feed them and be selfless in her giving. She is a manifestation of the goddess Parvati and one of Mother Shakti’s numerous guises. The condition of the sculpture is good. It originated in Karnataka.
